The Alberta Sport Development Centre – Central (ASDC-C) is pleased to announce that the ASDC-Central Male Athlete of the Month for May 2018 is Alex GerrardAlex Gerrard is a 14 year old Red Deer County, AB resident, a Grade 9 student at Hunting Hills High School and a competitive Golfer at the Provincial level.

Alex entered his first golf tournament at the age of 8 and has been coached by Jamie Reimer out of the Golf Canada Calgary Centre since the age of 11.  Alex is proud to call both Red Deer Golf and Country and Innisfail Golf Course as his home courses.  A highlight of Alex’s golf career is his 2017 win at the Carstairs CJGA (Canadian Junior Golf Association) Bantam Division.    

Alex looks forward to competing this summer at his first two national level 18 and under events at Golf Canada’s Future Links series at High River, Alberta and Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.  Alex’s goal for the 2018 season is to make the cut at the Provincial Junior Boys Division (18 and under) and win three or more CJGA or MJT (Maple Leaf Junior Tour) tournaments.  Alex’s long term goal is to play on a Division 1 NCAA team in the USA.

Alex credits the ASDC-Central program for helping him build and maintain his strength in his off season. Since joining ASDC-C, Alex has added 30 yards off the tee with his driver.

Alex’s strong work ethic, his undeniable athletic abilities and his training experiences with ASDC-Central, he will surely continue to grow, develop and succeed in his golf career!
