Whitney was born and raised in Red Deer. She has always been active in sports and found her passion for curling at a young age. Whitney has been curling for 18 years, starting out in the Red Deer Curling Centre Junior Programs. As a junior curler Whitney competed in the Alberta Winter Games, Alberta Junior Provincials, Alberta Mixed Provincials and in events on the World Curling Tour. Whitney was an athlete with the ASDC Athlete Enhancement Program for two years which helped her to grow as an athlete. In 2010 Whitney was named Red Deer Female Athlete of the year after her team won the Alberta Scotties Provincial Championship and competed at the 2010 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. She has since competed in the Player's Championship, 2011 Alberta Scotties Provincial Championship, and 2013 Alberta Mixed Doubles Provincial Championship and continues to curl competitively on the World Curling Tour. Whitney also has her NCCP level 1 coaching certification in curling and has instructed at the Alberta Rocks Junior Curling Camp.

Whitney graduated from the Red Deer College/University of Alberta in 2011 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She currently lives in Red Deer with her husband Dustin, son Carson and works as a Registered Nurse at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Intensive Care Unit.
